Indonesian Art - Kuan Yin

Kuan Yin, also known as Quan Shi Yin and Kwan Yin, carries the Goddess and Divine Mother aspect of Buddhism. She is the embodiment of compassion and love. Worshipped by Taoists and Mahayana Buddhists, the Bodhisattva Kuan Yin vowed to release all sentient beings in the universe from suffering. She is the most beloved of deities in the Buddhist tradition.

This beautiful wood sculpture is carved in satin wood by Bali Mastercarver Gusti Ngurah Semarajaya. Combining paint and natural wood, a delicately painted nature scene decorates this graceful statue.
